MPMA Perak Branch Celebrates 38 Years: Honouring the Past, Embracing a Greener Future

Recently, the Perak Branch of the Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA) hosted its 38th‑anniversary gala dinner.The evening was more than a celebration of the branch’s past achievements; it also marked a fresh start for the years ahead. Association leaders and government officials came together to talk openly about the challenges facing the industry and the opportunities waiting to be seized.Since its founding in 1989, the Perak Branch has spent 38 years building its role as a key pillar of the national MPMA network. Backed by the parent body’s broad resources and connections, it has become a driving force in Perak’s plastics sector. Today, the branch counts 89 member companies under its umbrella.In recent years, the branch has stepped up its efforts in environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility, making it clear that it takes these issues seriously. It set up the “MPMA Perak ESG Club” to turn environmental, social, and governance principles into real‑world action. At the same time, it runs seminars and forums to help member firms get ready for Malaysia’s forthcoming Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. The branch also works closely with technical and vocational schools, such as the Perak Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (PESDC), to train skilled workers who can meet the plastics industry’s evolving needs.Now, at this new milestone, the Perak Branch intends to carry forward the spirit of “38 years of uninterrupted dedication.” It will keep pushing for technological upgrades, championing green practices, and nurturing talent—all with the goal of strengthening the long‑term sustainability and global standing of Malaysia’s plastics industry.
